The Sussex & District Chamber of Commerce is a volunteer based, non-profit society formed by uniting the efforts of business and professional individuals to ensure a healthy economic and socioeconomic base for benefitting the entire community.

Who we are?

A Chamber of Commerce is a volunteer based, not for profit federation of the business community uniting the efforts of business and professional individuals to ensure a healthy economic and socioeconomic base to benefit the entire community. The Chamber harnesses the tremendous potential of the private enterprise system, and enables its membership to accomplish collectively, what no one could do as an individual.

How we work?

The policies and programs of the Chamber are determined by the Board of Directors, who in-turn, are elected by the membership.

Who Finances the Chamber?

The Chamber is a ‘business,’ which incurs operation costs and expenses similar to any other type of business. Those expenses are apportioned among its members individuals and firms, representing all types of business, industry and the professions, who all share a mutual desire to achieve a better community for its citizens.

Chamber membership is an INVESTMENT in the present and future welfare of both the individual, and the community.

Education

The Sussex & District Chamber of Commerce holds  monthly meetings on topics of interest to business, utilizing local speakers.  The Business Development Bank of Canada; Economic Development  sponsor  business workshops designed to inform, educate, and motivate local small business owners and managers, offered at a reduced rate for Chamber members.

Promotion

The Chamber encourages members to ‘Buy Sussex and Area’.  The Annual Golf Tournament provides members with opportunities to invite clients, or potential clients, out for a little competition, delicious food, and a great time. As a Chamber member, your business will be listed as part of a profile page here on the Chamber Web-site.

Chamber History

A group of 16 past presidents of the Sussex Junior Chamber of Commerce formed the Sussex & District Board of Trade for the enhancement of the community On January 16,1969 with Don MacVey serving as their first President.
